Business in a box
In July 2022 we partnered with Domino Business, the business arm of the Domino Foundation in Durban, to run their one-day entrepreneurial courses at PDH. This initiative is aimed at training vulnerable women in the basics of business so that they can earn some extra income selling lotions and fragrances in a sustainable way.
The training is free and runs the whole day on a Saturday, mid-month at HCC. The training start with a business game and then they are taught through 7 videos on the following topics:
- Understanding our customers
- Defining the target markets, products, and services
- Knowing your competition
- Understanding my costs
- How to run a profitable business
- How to save and make more money as an entrepreneur
- Pivoting your business
The training is based on Hallelujah Body Lotion and Body Soap products and the graduates
take away some of the product to start them off on their entrepreneurial
journey. PDH runs a depot for the lotions, soaps and fragrances so that the graduates can restock.
Some graduates are proving to be very good entrepreneurs, frequenting the depot several times a month.
The course has really made a difference in their lives
In 2022, PDH held 3 courses and trained 41 women and men and some and 11 graduates have volunteered to train to be course facilitators.
When trained up our facilitators will be able to run the BiaB courses with just one supervisor from Domino. We have set the dates for the 2023 BiaB courses as follows:
